ACTING

Ever since she was young, Leila was always drawn to performance. She first encountered Shakespeare at 12 years old and fell in love with the Bard’s imagery and poetry. This initial love nurtured her intellectual passion—studying Shakespeare’s rhymes across all works—while dance nurtured her passion for performance. Leila built a strong choreographic portfolio and artistic voice through her movement and eventually merged it with classical, Shakespearean theater training. She prides herself on building electric, raw, and humane characters in stories that she hopes will change audiences for good.

In particular, Leila is interested in creating art that activates audiences to take action and change our world for the better. She loves creating devised work with community members and implementing many strategies to break the audience-performer dynamic.

Leila has studied at the British American Drama Academy, Atlantic Theater School, Oregon Shakespeare Festival Summer Seminar, and Brown University.
